Charlotte Skate Shops Support Go Skate Day in a Big Way

Posted on June 21, 2012 by James Stewart Jr

I do not know how to skate;  however, I do respect how Charlotte’s skateboarding community has grown without major publicity.   The two major skate shops in Charlotte Blacksheep and Armada Skate Shop are having exciting events to encourage Charlotte skateboarders to skate.

Armada Skate Shop is having a Merch Search.  A merch search or merchandise search is a scavenger hunt for free merchandise and store vouchers that can be found in local favorite skate spots.  If you happen to sit on a bench today and find a free shirt keep it. It is Armada’s gift to you.  Today at 12am Armada released their promo video that displayed local skaters hiding the swag and all of the locations.    Keep progress of the event on their facebook event page.  Check out the video below you might recognize a place or two.

Blacksheep, the older Charlotte skate shop, is having a skate contest in the parking lot of All American Pub.  From 1pm to 4pm, the event will produce prizes, free giveaways, free food, and good times.  This is sure to be exciting because it is sponsored by Vitamin Water and Nike SB along with a few other local sponsors.

Local indoor skate park,  The Saturday Warehouse, will have free hot dogs and skating from 4pm to 11pm.  This event will be found on Louisa Ave.

If you’re more into longboarding there is a competition this Saturday at 10am traveling through the Mallard Creek Greenway.  For $5, The Queen City Dash is a lot of fun to be had.
