Pure Pizza: Charlotte’s Only Farm 2 Fork Pizzeria Now Open
Posted on April 24, 2012 by James Stewart Jr
Most people recognize Harvest Moon Grille as one of Charlotte’s Farm to Fork restaurants. Farm-to-table or Farm-to-fork is the name of the movement in which food from local farms go from the ground to our stores and restaurants with as little processing as possible. Charlotte’s Farm-to-Fork movement has been slow compared to Asheville’s and the Triangle’s because of a lack of infrastructure. However, that has not stopped 7th Street Public Market from pushing forth and hosting multiple businesses such as the Farm Stand and now Pure Pizza whom both have a farm-to-fork agenda.
“At Pure Pizza, we believe that in order for a pizza to be great, it must first have an amazing crust.” That is the first thing you read when visiting Pure Pizza. The pizzeria offers gluten free crust, vegetarian, and vegan pizza options along with salads. There are many vegan/vegetarian restaurants in Charlotte. Fern, Harvest Moon Grille, Luna’s Living Kitchen, and now Pure Pizza can be added to the mix. These women owners are all taking steps for healthier food options in Charlotte and creating a culture of healthy living.
I chose the Five Cheese Pie as my first pizza and was pleasantly surprised by the strength of multiple flavors, the hotness of the “secret sauce”, and how well they combined with the locally sourced honey dipping sauce. Next time you are uptown and in need of a place to eat for lunch check out Pure Pizza.
