What is PPL?

Last Tuesday, I decided to attend the launch party of PPL. PPL, pronounced “People”, is a space for independent media to call home during the Democratic National Convention, DNC. The DNC will have over 15,000 people visiting Charlotte and many of them identifying as associated with the media industry. This is where PPL hopes to impact.
PPL will allow independent media to have a platform to reach a larger audience when talking about the DNC during the DNC. The platform will be a space and resources to network and work. While benefiting independent media through out the nation to network it is also beneficial to the Charlotte community. The young founders have a history of creating successful local projects.
The platform really has not opened yet, so I am not sure what are the resources they are providing besides wifi, space, and networking opportunities to “highlight the people talking about the issues”. PPL will take place in Packard Place and the McColl Center for Visual Arts.
